Precision Slitting Systems

Integral or Stand-Alone Designs provide for flexibility in placement of the slitting system.

Integral Design – Enables more compact machine design.  The integral design is beneficial when working with space limitations.

Stand-Alone Design – Parkinson can supply just a slitting station if a winder already exists. A Stand-alone design helps with ease of thread up, especially in cases where there are many knives.

Shear, score or razor slitting

Shear

  • Generally more expensive than a score or razor cut
  • Creates a cleaner cut and least dust generation.
  • Less flexible in production (ie. More difficult to change position of the knives)

Score

  • Generally less expensive than a shear cut
  • Easy to change knife position
  • Depending on the material, more dust might be created and the cut may not be as clean

Razor

  • Low cost
  • Low maintenance
  • Creates more dust, less clean

New Dual Razor Slitter

Our new dual razor, DRS 2000, now offers a low maintenance, cost-effective alternative to more complex and expensive dual slitter designs.  The DRS 2000 features, "tool-less" blade changes and offers uninterrupted slitting, which provides the capability to extend a spare razor blade into the web without affecting an active cut or altering its location.

Ease of use and low-cost does not supercede the necessary safety features of this new slitter.

The razor blades are mounted in sliding cartridges that are easily and safely removed from the unit for blade replacement while the alternate blade is in operation.  A non-metallic guard prevents operator contact with the blades when in the retracted, thread-up position.  This guard also extends within close proximity of the web for further protection while slitting.  An additional safety guard, mounted behind the web, can be custom designed for your specific application, to prevent contact with the cutting edges of the blades while extended through the web.
