Marshall and Williams Plastics Receives Commissioning from Eurotherm Gauging Systems at Lab Facility
August 21, 2001
Woonsocket, Rhode Island-USA
Marshall and Williams Plastics is pleased to announce that Eurotherm Gauging Systems (EGS) has recently commissioned a new thickness measurement system at the new Marshall and Williams Plastics Lab/Pilot Facility in Providence, Rhode Island, for customer use.
The new Marshall and Williams Plastics pilot facility is equipped with two beta type thickness measurement systems. One system is located upstream after the casting machine and equipped with a Strontium 90 source. The second system is located downstream after the Transverse Direction Orienter (TDO) and equipped with a Krypton 85 source. The gauges are designed to measure the amount of radiation that passes through the product and convert to a thickness measurement based on a known material's density. The addition of these measurement systems to the Marshall and Williams Plastics Lab provides customers with continuous scans of thickness profiles.
EGS is one of the world's largest suppliers of measurement and control products for web process applications in the plastics processing and converting industries. EGS is part of Invensys - one of the world's largest automation companies.
