Pilot Lab Orientation Facility
Marshall and Williams Plastics Opens New Pilot Lab Facility
February 15, 2001
Woonsocket, Rhode Island-USA
Marshall and Williams Plastics, A Division of Parkinson Technologies will begin operating its new 15,000 sq. ft. dedicated Pilot Lab Orientation Facility in Providence, RI.
Marshall and Williams Plastics' new facility includes inline extrusion/co-extrusion, film and sheet casting, machine direction orientation (MDO), transverse direction orientation (TDO), corona treating, and winding. This equipment will provide customers with the opportunity to perform a complete inline biax process or select a specific procedure such as MDO or TDO. The advantage this testing provides is that it allows customers to predetermine what materials and process conditions would be best suited for their application. Beyond helping a customer better understand the process conditions, the lab can serve to develop samples that could be utilized for pre marketing or testing for an application.
Robert Simmons, Process Development Manager, says, "The pilot laboratory, which is unique in this industry, gives Marshall and Williams Plastics the opportunity not only to work with customers on all types of orientation projects, but also allows us to conduct evaluations that will allow development and improvements of our equipment."
Marshall and Williams Plastics recently moved its sales, engineering, production, and administrative offices to Parkinson Technologies' modern facility in Woonsocket, RI, a short distance from the lab in Providence.
Marshall and Williams Plastics has long been a leader in the field of plastic film and sheet downstream equipment and orientation machinery. Marshall and Williams Plastics designed and built the world's first TDO more than 50 years ago for processing polymer material. Since then it has continued to provide the plastics industry with unique, custom machinery to meet processors' needs. This new lab provides the industry with a unique development tool.
