Marshall and Williams Plastics Announces Plans to Build a New Lab/Pilot Line
January 15, 2002
Woonsocket, Rhode Island-USA
Marshall and Williams Plastics, a Division of Parkinson Technologies Inc. is officially announcing that it will build an entirely new Film and Sheet Orientation Lab/Pilot Line in Woonsocket, RI.
The Marshall and Williams Plastics lab/pilot facility provides the industry with a unique resource to develop and evaluate various formulations and products that require or that may benefit from orientation. In addition, the lab line is often utilized to produce pre-marketing samples for customers' evaluations.
The company's original plan was to move its present line from Providence, RI to Parkinson Technologies' Woonsocket, RI headquarters in early 2002. However, according to Ernest Abrahamson, President of Parkinson Technologies, "We found that the planned three-month downtime to move the existing equipment was a deep disappointment to many of our customers, as well as resin producers who depend on our laboratory for evaluation and development work. Also, in order to provide Marshall and Williams Plastics' customers with the increased benefits of an entirely new, state of the art line, the decision has been made to build a completely new lab at our Woonsocket facility."
The equipment planned for the new facility includes three new extruders, single layer and multi layer dies, a multi roll casting system, a vertical style MDO (machine direction orientation) system, a new style TDO (transverse direction orientation) system, upstream and downstream gauges, a corona treater, a turret winder, intermediate unwinders and winders, and a fully integrated drives and control system. The line is scheduled to be available for use later this year.
Marshall and Williams Plastics, a leader in the field of plastic film and sheet downstream equipment and complete monoaxial and biaxial orientation systems, provides the plastics industry with unique, custom machinery to meet various market requirements.
