Mechanical Engineering Manager

Parkinson Technologies Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of large-scale winding, web-handling and plastics processing equipment, has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineering Manager.  The individual will report to the Vice President of Engineering and Operations and will be responsible for all aspects of managing the mechanical engineering department. 

 

Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical direction and coordination of all equipment mechanical design
  • Manage and further develop an engineering team consisting of 10 professionals
  • Lead the group’s annual budget and planning efforts
  • Interface directly with customers and ensure that requirements are fully met
  • Integrate the engineering process with our Enterprise and Lean Manufacturing Systems
  • Support commercial, product development and operational initiatives

 

Functional Skills

  • Minimum 10 years of machine design engineering experience, BSME degree or higher
  • Technical team management experience in a rapid product development environment
  • Direct experience with web handling and plastics processing equipment or similar large scale machinery in process-intensive applications
  • Exceptional personnel management skills in terms of leveraging team members skills to optimize team capabilities and project efficiencies
  • Ability to interface with people on all levels
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks

  • Excellent conceptual design skills as demonstrated by the ability to translate complex process requirements into machinery and technology solutions
  • Strong work ethic with the initiative, energy and interpersonal skills necessary to achieve defined objectives, both individually and collaboratively
  • Ability and desire to attain the business acumen necessary to achieve an increasingly deeper understanding of the company, its products and the industry
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability and desire to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines without a high degree of manager involvement
